St. James church is situated Canon Street in the centre of Accrington.
Saint James Church celebrated its 460th birthday in 2005 and Situated in the only are of green at the heart of Accrington town centre. It has the honour of displaying the Colours of those well-known heroes of the town the 'Accrington Pal'.
It also contains tombs and memorials to many of the historic families of Accrington: Peel: Hargreaves: Wilson: Pilling: and Pickup
The interior has two floors: a traditional Nave and Chancel with Pews, and upper open-plan galleries which are used for social functions.
The Towers has a peel of thirteen bells. The Bell ringers meet 7.30pm each Friday.
The Church is open for visitors on the first Saturday of each month from 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m.
By tradition the style of worship is what used to be known as 'Lancashire Low'.
